FUNCTION

What it is: A high-concentration, pigment-lifting serum that fades existing dark spots and hyperpigmentation left behind by breakouts, sun damage or inflammation efficaciously for a more even complexion while preventing future discoloration from developing. 

Helps to: 

Alpha Arbutin, derived from Arbutin (sometimes referred to as “natural hydroquinone”) traditionally extracted from bearberry plants, is a skin-lightening and depigmenting agent that mimics hydroquinone in the reversion of melanin generation but with a much better safety profile and none of the irritation or cytotoxicity connected to it. Being approximately ten times more effective than its less stable beta equivalent and having no known negative interactions with other common ingredients, this also makes a much more reliable option for treating and preventing pigmentation issues – no matter your skin type or age. 

Unlike hydroquinone which exhibits a fatal reaction to melanocytes (by killing the cells that makes pigment), Alpha Arbutin inhibits only tyrosinases activity (through blocking the enzymatic conversion that catalyses melanin synthesis) which is activated anytime the skin comes into contact with UV light to functionally slow your melanin production and melanosome maturation, reducing the degree of darkening if not averting the occurrence altogether. Much like its ability to fight discoloration, it is also great at eliminating post-blemish redness, age spots and pink/purple scarring while unifying your skin tone – providing a healthy, uniform glow. 

For optimal result, a maximum concentration of 2% is used together with N-Acetyl Glucosamine (a replenishing amino sugar and a precursor for the biosynthesis of hyaluronic acid), Aquaxyl™ (a patented moisturising and restructuring trio that reinforces the skin barrier) and Beta Glucan (a skin-soother and anti-ager with excellent plumping capacity) to enhance delivery and give your skin an effortless boost in hydration the same time it brightens.

HOW TO USE

When to use: After cleansing and toning.

How to use: After cleansing and toning, dispense adequate amount onto the palm of your hands before patting them onto your face. Always followed by a sunscreen of SPF30 or greater during the day.
